Children & Youth
This page lists online resources and pro bono projects for help on education advocacy or child and youth advocacy. (We regret that the Toronto walk-in centre does not help in these areas.)
Pro Bono Projects
The Child Advocacy Project is dedicated to enhancing access to justice for children by providing free legal services to eligible families who cannot afford a lawyer. Volunteer lawyers provide assistance on legal issues that impact upon the health and wellbeing of children and youth. Some programs are set up as partnerships between lawyers and community groups that serve children and youth.
A restorative justice project that helps youth who are diverted from the criminal justice system make amends for their offenses. An interdisciplinary circle comprised of mental health experts, lawyers, and other community parties, works with the youth in a supportive process.
Justice For Children and Youth
Justice for Children and Youth is a nonprofit, legal aid clinic that provides select legal representation to low-income children and youth in Toronto and vicinity. JFCY helps protect the rights of those facing conflicts with the legal system, education, social service or mental health systems. Their website also provides a number of helpful resources.
